The City of Canyon Lake is hosting its 7th annual Frozen Turkey and Food Drive this Thursday, Nov. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. Residents are invited to give the gift of a Thanksgiving meal by donating a frozen turkey and other non-perishable items. Food collected will be donated to Helping Our People in Elsinore (H.O.P.E.).

A donation of a frozen turkey with all the trimmings will make a world of difference to a struggling family. Canyon Lake residents, clubs and businesses are encouraged to participate in the program to enable the community’s most vulnerable residents and their families to enjoy the holidays this year. Residents who wish to participate may drop off frozen turkeys and non-perishable food items at City Hall, 31516 Railroad Canyon Rd., on the day of the drive. The city is unable to store frozen turkeys so they need to be dropped off at the date and time indicated.

Suggested items include frozen turkey, whole frozen chicken, stuffing mix, gravy mix, canned mushroom soup, canned green beans, canned yams and brown sugar, miniature marshmallows, cornbread mix, hot chocolate and coffee, cake and cookie mix, non-perishable items and other items of choice.

For more than 25 years, the non-profit H.O.P.E. has been serving the less fortunate in Elsinore Valley through its food ministry. Services provided by H.O.P.E. benefit more than 100 Canyon Lake families.
