October was a busy month for Kids Club

The Canyon Lake Kids Club schedule was packed with activities last month. The club celebrated Fire Prevention week with a special visitor on Oct. 11. Captain Brent Carter of Canyon Lake Fire Station 60 taught the children about fire safety and how to “stop, drop and roll.”

The club celebrated National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month by collecting donations for Animal Friends of the Valleys. They also participate in the Huey’s Heroes Reading Program by reading books to the dogs in the shelter.

On Oct 9, the kids learned about Columbus Day and the letter “P.”

Yoga instructor Dani Martin visited the club and taught the children about yoga on Oct. 16.

On Oct. 18, the club visited a local pumpkin patch, where they visited with the animals, played in the corn boxes and rode a wagon into the field to pick out pumpkins.

The kids learned about the letter “T,” number six and color purple on Oct. 23. Ms. Christie also read a Halloween book and the children crafted cotton ball ghosts. On Oct. 25, the kids made paper bag Halloween costumes.

The activities planned for November include the club’s annual Pie Party, celebrating Mickey Mouse’s birthday and activities centered around fall and Thanksgiving.

The Kids Club will be on break the week of Thanksgiving.

The Kids Club is a program in which young children and their parents or grandparents enjoy a morning of crafts, music, exercise, games, sports and a snack for just $2 per session. Those who purchase a 10-class punch card receive two classes free. Punch cards can be purchased in class. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Pool View Room at the lodge.
