Many Wonders features ‘A Candy Cane Christmas’

This year’s Many Wonders will be held on Saturday, Nov 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church. This year’s theme is “A Candy Cane Christmas.” Tickets cost $20 each. A catered lunch is included. Tickets are limited to 200. To purchase tickets, contact Sandra Fulmer at 951-244-7394.

The entertainment this year will be The James Donald Singers, a family trio based in Southern California who brings a fresh approach to gospel music. The Canyon Lake Children’s Choir also will make its debut.

Thirty lighted Christmas trees (approximately 3-feet tall) will be awarded in an opportunity drawing. The trees are decorated by local artists, businesses and volunteers.  Some of the trees are decorated with gift cards to beauty salons, restaurants and even the Canyon Lake Country Club Pro Golf Shop.

Every table will be decorated with a poinsettia and one lucky table guest will win it.  The large poinsettias on the stage also will be given away as door prizes. Each guest will take home a beautiful bookmark.

The catered lunch menu coordinated by Diane Cline consists of salad, rice, chicken Marsala, vegetable medley, bread and cheesecake for dessert. Bob Sheraga and Cort Ofstad lead a group of husbands of committee members who serve the lunch.

The Many Wonders of Christmas luncheon started nine years ago as a kickoff to the Christmas season and as an outreach for women’s ministries.

The committee works through the year to attend to every detail, from the menu and favors to the centerpieces, decorations, guest speakers, music and Christmas trees.

This year’s chair, Lynda Ofstad, has had the help of a dozen CLCC women who are experienced in Many Wonders from years past.
