Priscilla Circle hosts PLAN luncheon

Priscilla Circle, an organization of thirty-four active ladies at Canyon Lake Community Church, held its People Living Alone Now (PLAN) Luncheon on Oct. 13. JOY (Jesus, Others and You) was the theme of the luncheon. Guests were greeted in the church gym with the sounds of “Joy,” a contemporary Christian song by the musical group King & Country.

PLAN luncheons are hosted by Priscilla Circle three times a year for church and community women and men who are single, divorced, living alone or living with a roommate, relative or caregivier. There is never a charge to attend the luncheons because the mission of the ladies is to carry out the words of scripture — “Rise in the presence of the aged and show respect for the elderly.”

The luncheon menu, chosen by the  Food and Kitchen Chairwoman Maggie Mende,  featured plump chicken fingers, Yukon Gold potatoes with vegetables, a green salad, corn bread and a cluster of purple grapes garnishing the presentation. Pumpkin pie topped with whipped cream was served for dessert. A beverage table decorated and planned by Lynda Ofstad featured hot apple cider.

Guest speakers and Canyon Lake residents Robert and Linda Sasser of Helping Hands Group were honored and touched as Angie Atwood sang their special wedding song, “Evergreen. “I’ve never had to get up and speak after such a beautiful introduction,” said Linda.

Always a highlight of each luncheon, the autumn centerpieces made by Katsuko Mitchell and Lori Marzolf were given away along with themed door prizes for each table.

Priscilla Circle encourages ladies to become involved with their ministry. They meet for fellowship, friendship and outreach September through June on the first Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. in Room 11 at the church. For more information, contact Alice Gray at 951-244-4605.
