Kids of all ages are invited to get a jump start on making their rounds for Halloween treats at the 27th annual Parade of Frights on Saturday in the Canyon Lake Towne Center. The spooktacular event kicks off with registration in front of City Hall at 9 a.m.

Sponsored by the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce, the Parade of Frights features costumed children trick-or-treating at more than 45 Towne Center businesses using the chamber’s “Treasure Map.”

Participating businesses will stamp the map and hand out treats. Completed maps are entered into a prize drawing. Three winners will be selected. The winner of the first map drawn will receive a gift basket from In-N-Out Burger. The winners of the second and third maps drawn will receive Target gift cards.

Children ages one to 13 are invited to enter the costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for Best Costume in the following age groups: one and younger, two to five, six to nine and 10 to 13.

All children are invited to participate in the costume parade around the parking lot. Thunder of Storm Stadium will lead the parade again this year.

Other activities include carnival games and inflatable bounce house. Mike Shroyer of Good Time Entertainment is emceeing the event and providing the music.

The Parade of Frights is a fright-free family event. Parents are encouraged to dress in costumes too.

Sponsors of the Parade of Frights include Advantage Flooring, Berkshire Hathaway, Blue Water Realty, Canyon Mattress & More, Coldwell Banker, CR&R, JDI Dance, Lake Elsinore Casino, Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant and Cantina, Lakefront Family Dentistry and Platinum Plumbing.
