Final Coffee with Nancy

Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District Division 1 Director Nancy Horton is hosting her final Coffee with Nancy on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m. at the Sports Stop. Coffee is complimentary. Nancy is not running for election in Division 1, so this will be her final Coffee with Nancy. Nancy is available to talk about changing guidelines for water conservation, answer questions about conservation rebates and the district’s water rates, etc. Residents are invited to bring their water bill for clarification of costs.

P.E.O Scholarships

P.E.O., a philanthropic organization devoted to the educational advancement of women through scholarships, grants, awards and loans, is offering scholarship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate California women studying in a variety of fields including but not limited to health care, education, music, fine arts and the legal profession.

Application forms and guidelines are available online at peocalifornia.org. Completed packets are due no later than Feb. 1, 2019. The scholarships will be awarded for the fall 2019 school year. For additional Information, contact Dee Zasio at 951-244-0123.

Chronic Illness Support

The Chronic Illness Support Group meets on the first Monday of each month from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Canyon Lake Senior Center. The next meeting will be held on Nov. 5. All ages are welcome to attend. The group provides the opportunity to share and receive support from others who have chronic conditions, whether from illness or physical issues. Trunk or Treat

Lamb’s Fellowship, 21901 Railroad Canyon Rd., Lake Elsinore, is hosting a free family Trunk or Treat on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m.  The event will feature trunk or treating, games and an outdoor movie.

Dia De Los Muertos

Be a part of a strong heritage celebration of Dia de Los Muertos in its 7th year of celebration in downtown Lake Elsinore on Oct. 27 from 1 to 6 p.m. at City Park. This event attracts thousands with dance performances musicians, crafts and food vendors.

Craft Fair

The Elks Ladies of Lake Elsinre/Wildomar Elks Lodge is hosting their annual Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the lodge, 33700 Mission Trail, Wildomar. Items range from baked goods and jams to purses and jewelry. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be on sale for shoppers. Booth spaces are available for $25. Lioness Bingo Fundraiser

Sponsored by the Canyon Lake Lioness Club, bingo is held at the Canyon Lake Senior Center on the first and third Sunday of every month from 1 to 4 p.m. Due to State Law, players must be 18 or older to play. Admission is $10 per six-sheet set; special games are available for $1 each.

Motorcycle Show

Eagle Ridge Riders will present its Veterans Day Weekend Bike Show on Nov. 11 at Eagle Ridge Church, 25891 Holland Rd. Menifee. All bikes and riders are welcome. Seven Best of Show awards, vendors, music by Band of Brothers, jump houses and opportunity drawings.

Bereavement Support

Grief Share typically meets in the chapel at Canyon Lake Community Church on Mondays at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. For more information, contact Pastor Pete at 951-244-1877, ext. 204.

Breast Cancer Resources

Bosom Buddies is a breast cancer support group in Canyon Lake led by Janelle Basham and Kimberly Slingerland. The pair mentor, educate and support newly diagnosed breast cancer patients during their journey. For more information, visit clbosombuddies.com.

Michelle’s Place, 27645 Jefferson Ave., Ste. 117, Temecula, is a breast cancer resource center serving Canyon Lake and surrounding areas. The center’s mission is to provide emotional and educational support to those touched with breast cancer and facilitate breast health care services. Caregivers Connection

The Canyon Lake Community Church’s Caregivers Connection offers an opportunity for caregivers to share common problems, needs and experiences. Anyone caring for a loved one for illnesses such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, heart issues or Parkinson’s is welcome to attend the meetings held at Canyon Lake Community Church in Building C.

Menifee Historical Museum

The Menifee Valley Historical Museum contains displays about Canyon Lake history provided by Canyon Lake pioneers, Don and Elinor Martin, who sometimes serve as docents. The museum is located in the old Menifee Elementary School on Garbani Rd. and is open Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.

Farmers Market

The Canyon Lake Farmers Market operates every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the upper section of the Towne Center parking lot.

Genealogy Research

The Lake Elsinore Genealogical Society (LEGS) Business and Program meetings are held monthly on the second Thursday of each month, except July and August, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lakeland Village Community Center, 16275 Grand Ave., Lake Elsinore. Needlework Group

Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery is a program that teaches and gives one tools on how to address their hurts, habits, and hang-ups so that they can move forward and find their purpose and a life filled with joy. Participants discover that they are not alone in what they are going through and find people to walk alongside them. Celebrate Recovery meets every Sunday at 6 p.m. in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. They offer Celebrate Recovery (recovery for adults 18+); The Landing (recovery for teens); Celebration Place (recovery for kids); and free childcare. A potluck is held at on the first Sunday of each month at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Marianne at 951-244-1877, ext. 209.

MOPS

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) meets on the first and third Tuesdays at 9 a.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church. MOPS seeks to support mothers during the early years of their children’s lives. By connecting with other moms and mentor moms, craft projects and guest speakers, women are encouraged in their physical, emotional and spiritual journeys. Childcare is provided.

The moms fellowship over hot coffee and warm breakfast, then enjoy a speaker or craft. Those desiring “coffee talk” are invited to contact Karla Holenbeck at 951-317-6803.

CLAWS Bunco

Canyon Lake women are invited to attend the Canyon Lake Association of Women (CLAWS) group bunco on the second Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. The cost is $10 per player. Participants are asked to bring canned and packaged food for the community cupboard. For more information, call Betty Henry at 951-244-3091.

Expressive Art Class

Michelle’s Place, a breast cancer resource center serving Canyon Lake and surrounding area, hosts a free Expressive Art Class every other Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. The class uses art as a form of therapy and self-exploration. Sessions help to practice creativity while opening the door to calming strategies and awareness techniques. Participants gain a better insight of themselves through sharing feelings and exploring a host of topics with group dialog and discussion. It’s part art, part relaxing, part “therapy,” part discussion and a positive diversion for anyone. No reservations, fees or art experience required. For dates and times, visit michellesplace.org.

Sewing, Quilting Group

Residents are invited to the senior center for sewing and quilting on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring a project and sewing machine, or just visit and check it out. For more information, contact Terri Ireland at 951-246-2571.

Steering Wheel Covers

The Canyon Lake Lioness Club offers custom-made steering wheel covers made of many different materials and patterns, which keep steering wheels from becoming too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. Women’s Circles

Women’s Circles are small groups of women who meet once a month in each other’s homes or in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. They pray and support missionaries and pray for and encourage one another. Being a member of a Women’s Circle provides an opportunity for small group fellowship. Faith Circle meets the third Monday at 7 p.m.; Julia Circle meets the second Monday at 10:30 a.m.; Priscilla Circle meets the first Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.; Sonshine Circle meets the third Monday at 9:30 a.m.; Sunset Circle meets the second Sunday at 5:30 p.m.; Love Circle meets the second Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. For more information about the Women’s Circles, contact Circle Coordinator Phyllis Duncan at 951-674-4436.
