Woman’s Club hosts first Witches Afternoon Tea

Eighty ladies in witch costumes filled the senior center on Saturday for the Woman’s Club first Witches Champagne Afternoon Tea.

Attendees were treated to champagne, an assortment of teas, a spread of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jams and a variety of mini desserts.

Music was provided by Aprile DeAnne, who also emceed the event. Entertainment included a variety of fortune tellers, Best Witch Costume Contest and Cackling Contest. The evening wrapped up with an opportunity drawing and auction that included Halloween-themed items.

Lou Crone and her daughter Shelly won the Best Witch Costume Contest. Daryl France won the Cackling Contest.

Proceeds from this event go toward the club’s charitable donations. In June, the Woman’s Club donated more than $40,000 to various local charities and educational scholarships to women and girls who live in Canyon Lake. For more information about the Woman’s Club, visit canyonlakewomansclub.com.
