Letters: Car Show

Editor, The Friday Flyer

On behalf of the 2018 Canyon Lake Car Show Committee, I want to thank everyone who participated in our 13th annual Classic Car Show this year. This list includes too many to list by name, but first and foremost they are the 2018 Car Show Committee who has been working on this event since June; their sub-committees made up of club volunteers, spouses and friends. The City of Canyon Lake, POA and specifically Activities, Lodge and Operations, without which we couldn’t pull it off each year.

POA staff attended many of our planning meetings after hours and without them, the event wouldn’t have been the success it was. Operations were diligent in their assistance with set-up and take-down were also much appreciated.

There were more than 250 cars on display from as far away as Nevada and Arizona; a complimentary performance by ShowCal Skiers, 29 vendor booths and 34 sponsors that supported this event. There was an assortment of foods from street tacos to ice cream, to special drinks and an expanded Car Show menu at the lodge.

We appreciate all the cool cars that participated this year. Twenty-two trophies were given to participants selected by their peers, with five more selected by industry professionals in paint, interiors and motors, as well as city and POA dignitaries.

Special thanks to Sam and Chip Foose for jointly selecting the Foose Pick this year. It was a real treat to see them.

Our thanks also go to The Friday Flyer and staff for their great support, photos, articles and overall promotion, and the community of Canyon Lake for coming out and enthusiastically supporting us.

We’re already working on making the show next year even bigger and better. Mark your calendars for the 2019 Canyon Lake Classic Car Show; Saturday, Oct. 5.
