JWC Rocktoberfest well attended despite rain

The Canyon Lake Jr. Women’s Club held its annual Rocktoberfest on Saturday afternoon at Holiday Harbor Park. This year’s theme was Red, White and Brews in honor of veterans. The event was well attended despite the rain.

Roctoberfest featured beer tastings from local microbreweries, vendors,  live music by The Bad Dancers, a single-elimination Cornhole Tournament and a Wiener Dog Race.

Drew Mendonca played “Amazing Grace” on the bagpipes and a moment of silence was observed.

The dog races, sponsored by Fowler Pest Control and Kayla Ritchie of Coldwell Bank, featured a heat of purebred wieners as well as an “almost wieners” category. Mr. Wiggles was crowned the winner. Mr. Frankfurter came in second and Franky the Flash placed third. In the “almost wiener” category, Cooper placed first and Rocky placed second.

Every year, JWC donates its tips to a worthy cause. In keeping with the Red, White and Brews theme, this year the club will match the tips received and donate the money to the Wounded Warrior Project.

JWC would like to thank the POA, event vendors and microbreweries, the Urban Craft Eatery, Canyon Cowboy and all the volunteers and attendees who came out in the rain to make this a fun and memorable event.
