People living alone invited to church luncheon

Priscilla Circle invites women and men living alone or with a roommate or relative to attend a free luncheon tomorrow, Oct. 13, at 12 p.m. in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. The event is one of three free luncheons per year hosted by Priscilla Circle, one of six circles at the church.

PLAN (People Living Alone) is an outreach program for those living alone, with or without family or caregivers. The purpose is to share a meal and fellowship during a short program that includes lunch, music and a testimony or story.

Attendees do not have to be members of the church or Priscilla Circle to attend. As always, meeting new people and table conversation are the highlights of each luncheon.

The theme of the October luncheon is JOY (Jesus, Others and You). The guest speakers will be Robert and Linda Sasser of Helping Hands Group. The Sassers will be celebrated as Angie Atwood sings their special wedding song, “Evergreen”

Early in its informative year in 2009, Priscilla Circle ladies choose as their Mission Statement the Bible verse Leviticus 19:32, “Rise in the presence of the aged. Show respect for the elderly and revere your God.”

The group sees loneliness as a real problem in society and believe that by easing the loneliness of those who are elderly they are doing the work that they are called to so as followers of Jesus Christ.

Pricilla Circle meets monthly on the first Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church.
