The children in the Kids Club were busy in the month of September. In honor of First Responders Appreciation Month, the kids made cards for the first responders at Canyon Lake Fire Station 60. The cards were delivered to the station along with muffins and cookies.

On Sept. 25, the kids painted tiles at A Cup Above for the tile wall at the Sunset Beach playground.

On Sept. 27, the class learned about Johnny Appleseed and reviewed all the letters, numbers, shapes and colors they learned in the month of September. Ms. Christie made homemade applesauce for a snack. The class also surprised Ms. Spenser with a cupcake revealing the gender of her new baby.

September’s program also included crafts and activities to go along with the readings of Curious George, Being Me, The Survivor Tree, Splat the Cat, The Life of an Apple and If You Take A Mouse To School.

Among the activities planned for October are fall and Halloween crafts, kids yoga, collecting donations for a local animal shelter and a visit by Captain Carter of Canyon Lake Fire Station 60.

The Kids Club is a program in which young children and their parents or grandparents enjoy a morning of crafts, music, exercise, games, sports and a snack for just $2 per session. Those who purchase a 10-class punch card will receive two classes free. Punch cards can be purchased in class. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Pool View Room at the lodge.

The program leaders are Christie Hall, Sarah Card, Rocio Triolo and Spenser Salvino. For more information, email canyonlakekidsclub@gmail.com or visit the club’s Facebook page.
