Bassmasters announce monthly tourney winners

Nine teams participated in the Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club’s monthly tournament on Sept. 8. Each team is allowed to weigh-in five bass. The nine teams caught a total fish weight of 98.06 pounds. All fish were released back into the lake after weigh-in.

The team of Chuck Moreno and Don Dietz came in first place with five fish weighing 15 pounds. Travis Smith and Chuck Emery took second place with five fish weighing 14.84 pounds. The team of Joe Merrill and Sal Gervasi placed third with five fish weighing 13.92 pounds.

Chuck Moreno earned the title of “Big Fish of the Day” with a bass weighing 4.68 pounds.

The Bassmasters Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. Tournaments are typically held on the first Saturday after the first Wednesday of each month. The Bassmasters Club welcomes residents who like to fish and want to improve their skills in a low stress, friendly competitive environment.
