Rewards offered for new library card signups

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month. Library cards are free and in September there is a sign-up bonus of a food coupon and entry into a drawing.

The library also is holding a “My Library is Incredible” promotion that allows parents and children to say why they think their library is incredible. A notebook of the entries is being kept in the library and is available for viewing. Those who return the completed form will be entered into a drawing.

The library offers Roots to Grow Tutoring on Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m. The program provides volunteer opportunities for high school students to help others. Since the program works with volunteers, the library staff advises a call after 9:15 a.m. on Saturdays to confirm that volunteers are available.

Tutoring is also available through the Riverside County Library System website at rivlib.net.

Toddler Story Time meets on Monday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. in the library’s Kid’s Cove. This free program developed for ages three and under includes a craft and related stories.

The Junior Book Club will meet on Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. This month’s program includes a video chat with “The Nocturnals” author Tracey Hecht. Tracy will be available via the Internet for an interactive Nocturnals read aloud writing workshop and Q&A. The library has a small number of the books available to participants.

The Adult Book Club will be meeting on Monday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. New members are always welcome. This month’s featured book is “The Sandcastle Girls” by Chris Bohjalian.

The library has a few copies remaining. The book also is available for purchase through the RCLS website.

The library is open on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The library is closed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

All programs are free to participants. For more information about programs, call 951-244-9181.
