Hundreds of young anglers will be fishing around the lake on Saturday hoping to catch the “big one” in the 32nd annual Kids Fishing Derby. Kids ages five to 15 are invited to participate in this free event hosted by the Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club.

Registration is from 6 to 8 a.m. at Holiday Harbor Park. Parents must register and sign a consent form in order for their child to participate. Worms will be provided at registration while supplies last.

Participants may fish from the time they register until 11 a.m. Kids must be in line to weigh-in by 12 p.m.

Each participant will receive a complimentary lunch and a prize drawing ticket. Lunch will be served after the weigh-in, followed by award presentations and prize drawing.

Trophies will be awarded in three different age groups, five to seven, eight to 11 and 12 to 15. Awards also will be present for “Big Fish” in each species and “Big Fish” for a boy and a girl.

As part of the annual event, each participant will automatically receive one ticket for a special prize drawing that includes more than 100 prizes. A few lucky kids will win bicycles.
