Paddle & Pedal Regatta sails Saturday

The Triathlon and Fitness Club invites all paddle-boarders, kayakers and pedal-boaters to participate in 7th annual Paddle & Pedal Regatta tomorrow, Aug. 11.

The non-competitive, non-motorized cruise of the East Bay will start at 10 a.m. at Indian Beach. Following a group photo, participants will make their way from Indian Beach to the East Port launch ramp and back.

Participants are reminded that every person on a non-motorized sailboat, rowboat, kayak, canoe, paddle board and pedal boat, is required by the POA to have with them one US Coast Guard approved life jacket. There must be one life vest for every person on board. All minors ages 12 and younger must wear a life vest.

A paddleboard race will follow the cruise this year. The adult course for ages 14 and older starts at Indian Beach and travels to Roadrunner Park and back. The youth course is a shorter spectator-friendly route. Race participants are asked to make a $5 donation. The top three male and top three female finishers will receive medals; all participants will receive a raffle ticket for the opportunity drawing.

The club is sponsoring a barbecue lunch following the event. A $5 donation is requested. The club will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and non-alcoholic drinks. Participants are invited to bring a salad or side dish to share.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to Pedal the Cause to benefit children’s cancer research.

The Triathlon and Fitness Club is seeking donations from local businesses for the opportunity drawing. Interested businesses are asked to contact Karin Cassidy at 951-764-9503.
