The man behind the name of Rob Caveney Park

Situated between two house on Early Round Dr. is a small park named Rob Caveney. It’s one of the few amenities named after a member in the community. Who is Rob Caveney?

Rob was very active in Canyon Lake, serving on the POA Board of Directors and as president of the Travel Club and Men’s Golf Club. He also was a longtime leader of the Tuesday Work Group.

In 1943, Rob married his wife Jetsy (Yetske), who he met while in college while he was a drum major of the Pasadena Bull Dog Band. Jetsy was a talented dancer and baton twirler. She appeared in 22 major features, including “Show Boat,” “Royal Wedding” and “Singing in the Rain.”

In the early 80s, after Rob retired from his duties as a high school principal for the Los Angeles School District, the couple moved to Canyon Lake where they could continue pursuing their hobbies of golf, bridge and community activism.

Rob’s love of music led him to bring military band concerts to Canyon Lake, inviting fellow U.S. Marines to perform at Indian Beach in the mid-1980s.

In January 1985, Rob led a committee of golfers in proposing a new clubhouse at the Golf Course.

In 1989, Rob shared the honor of serving as Canyon Lake’s Fiesta Day Parade Grand Marshal.

Rob passed away in 1993. Rob and Jetsy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a few months before his passing. Jetsy passed away on June 28, 2015, at the age of 96. That same year, Rob Caveney Park was remodeled and new playground equipment was installed. The remodel was completed in August 2015, two months after Jetsy Caveney passed away.
