Paddle & Pedal Regatta sets sail next weekend

All paddle-boarders, kayakers and pedal-boaters are invited to come out next Saturday, Aug. 11, for a non-competitive, non-motorized cruise of the East Bay. Hosted by the Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club, the 7th annual Paddle & Pedal Regatta will start at 10 a.m. at Indian Beach.

Following a group photo, participants will make their way from Indian Beach to the East Port launch ramp and back.

A paddleboard race will follow the cruise this year. The adult course for ages 14 and older starts at Indian Beach and travels to Roadrunner Park and back. The youth course is a shorter spectator-friendly route. Race participants are asked to make a $5 donation. The top three male and top three female finishers will receive medals; all participants will receive a raffle ticket for the opportunity drawing.

Following the event will be a club sponsored barbecue lunch, available to those who donate $5 per person. The club will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and non-alcoholic drinks. Participants are invited to bring a salad or side dish to share.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to Pedal the Cause to benefit children’s cancer research.

The Triathlon and Fitness Club is seeking donations from local businesses for the opportunity drawing. Interested businesses are asked to contact Karin Cassidy at 951-764-9503.

The Triathlon and Fitness Club promotes healthy lifestyles through swimming, cycling, running and other cross-training activities. The annual 5K/10K Fun Run, Tour de Canyon Lake and Paddle & Pedal Regatta are among the community events the club hosts. Annual club dues are $30 for individuals and $40 for families. Membership is not required to participate in events hosted for the community.
