CL Library to award bicycles in prize drawings

The Canyon Lake Library’s Summer Reading Program, “Reading Takes You Everywhere,” prize drawings began July 20. Seventy-seven prizes have been awarded thus far.

The remaining prizes will be awarded by a drawing on Friday, July 27. The large prizes this year include two $50 Disney certificates donated by Denise Burkhardt, a Yamaha PSR-E243 digital piano donated by a community member, two 12-inch bicycles also donated by a community member, two 16-inch bicycles donated by the Friends of the Library and a bowling and laser tag package for six donated by Pins ‘N Pockets. Over 100 prizes are yet to be awarded.

All tickets must be turned in by Friday, July 27, at 3 p.m. Winners need not be present to win.

David Cousin performed his amazing juggling acts to an audience of 50 on July 18. Within the performance he had the audience participate in balancing feathers and holding a giant racket while he bounce-juggled oversized tennis balls. David holds five world records in juggling.

On July 23, Canyon Lake resident John Guzman Jr. presented his Island Adventures program. He shared his travel tips and experience traveling to Caye Caulker, a small Caribbean island off the coast of Belize, and Ometepe in Nicaragua.

The library’s Toddler Story Time and Adult Book Club will meet on Monday, July 30. Toddler Story Time meets every Monday at 11 a.m. The Adult Book Club meets on the last Monday of each month at 4 p.m. Those wanting to check out the club but have not read the book may attend the meeting to meet the group and learn about the next book.
