Annual Paddle & Pedal Regatta set for Aug. 11

Paddlers of all ages are invited to participate in the 7th annual Paddle & Pedal Regatta on Saturday, Aug. 11, at Indian Beach.

Canyon Lakers and their guests are invited to bring their paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, pedal boats or other non-powered vessel and join in on a non-competitive cruise of the East Bay. “We hope to fill the East Bay with paddlers,” said Triathlon and Fitness Club secretary Karin Cassidy.

Following a group photo at 10 a.m., participants will make their way to the East Port Park launch ramp and then head back to the park for a club sponsored barbecue lunch.

A paddleboard race will follow the cruise this year. The adult course for ages 14 and older starts at Indian Beach and travels to Roadrunner Park and back. The youth course is a shorter spectator-friendly route. Race participants are asked to make a $5 donation. The top three male and top three female finishers will receive medals; all participants will receive a raffle ticket for the opportunity drawing.

A barbecue lunch will be offered for a $5 donation. The club will be providing hamburgers, hot dogs and non-alcoholic drinks. Participants are invited to bring a salad or side dish to share.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to Pedal the Cause to benefit children’s cancer research.

The Triathlon and Fitness Club is seeking donations from local businesses for the opportunity drawing. Interested businesses are asked to contact Karin Cassidy at 951-764-9503.

The Triathlon and Fitness Club promotes healthy lifestyles through swimming, cycling, running and other cross-training activities.
