The annual Canyon Lake Fourth of July Bike Ride, hosted by the Waller family, kicked off at 9 a.m. with a couple hundred participants gathered for a group photo in front of the Waller home on Longhorn Drive.
From there, bikes, skateboards and golf carts traveled to Happy Camp and down Big Range Rd., ending back at the Waller home where a breakfast was shared.
The Wallers have hosted the bike ride for the past 14 years. During this year’s event, Karen and Taz Waller announced that this would be their last ride; the family is moving on to new adventures in Colorado.
“Taz and I would like to thank the community. We’ve loved and cherished our 20 years here in Canyon Lake,” said Karen Waller. “We’ll miss this wonderful community.”
Canyon Lakers Danny and Robin Susca stepped up to carry on the annual Fourth of July tradition. “We’re so happy they are taking over the bike ride and keeping the tradition going,” said Karen.
Karen and Taz started the bike ride in 2004 with just a handful of dads and kids. They had no idea at the time that the ride would eventually grow into an annual event with hundreds of residents participating each year.
