STEM camps for kids seven to 12 start Monday

Students will acquire skills, knowledge and confidence in the POA sponsored STEM camps. STEM camps foster valuable 21st-Century life skills like problem-solving, creativity and collaboration. There will be two different classes for different age levels running July 2 through July 6. No classes will be held on July 4.

The cost is $125 per session. Signups are taken at the POA office and classes are held at the East Port Activities Room at East Port Park.

The Junior Jurassic Robots class is for children ages five to eight. Kids in this class will build and program LEGO Mindstorms robots to rescue dinosaurs from predators, transport equipment and outrun Velociraptors. Class hours are from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Battlebots class is for children seven to 12. Kids in this class will use LEGO Mindstorms, compete in exciting games such as Sumo Bots and Tower Siege and battle it out against other robot teams in order to be the ultimate champion. Class hours are from 1 to 4 p.m.
