Board Meeting Change

Regular Session Board Meetings scheduled from September 2018 to May 2019 will start at 6 p.m. with the exception of holidays and events. Regular Session Board Meetings for July and August have been moved from Tuesdays to Mondays due to Taco Tuesdays at the lodge.

Father’s Day Brunch

The lodge will offer brunch on Father’s Day. The brunch features a variety of breakfast and lunch favorites, such as omelet station, carving stations, salads, pastries and desserts. The price is $24.95 for adults and $12.95 for kids. Reservations are recommended.

Father’s Day Golf Special

The country club is offering a lunch special and discounted green fees on Father’s Day. Green fee is discounted to $24 for adults and $7 for kids ages 17 and younger. The cart fee is discounted to $10. All men’s apparel in the Golf Pro Shop will be discounted 25 percent. The lunch special is $10 per person and includes a draft beer. Golf is discounted from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch special is offered from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Reservations are recommended.

Taco Tuesdays

Taco Tuesdays run every Tuesday at the lower level of the lodge from 5 to 8:30 p.m. until Aug. 7. Combo plates an a la carte items are offered. The indoor bar offers fountain and adult drinks. Music and contests are provided by DJ Mike Shroyer. Inflatable water slide for kids is provided by ABC Bounce; wristbands for unlimited use are $4 each. The Lighthouse Restaurant is closed during Taco Tuesdays, the bar is open.

Senior Potlucks

Seniors are invited to enjoy potlucks at the senior center on the second Tuesday and last Sunday of each month.

Summer Park Hours

Summer park hours are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Hours will change back to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 1.

Pump Track

At June’s Regular Session Board Meeting, the board voted to pursue Sierra Park North for the location of a new pump track.

Lost and Found

The POA has a Lost and Found for items found in the parks and other locations within the community. To inquire, call 951-244-6841, ext. 218 during regular business hours. Be sure to provide details on the item and leave your name and phone number so staff can get back to you after checking the Lost and Found inventory.

Registration

All boats and golf carts being driven within the community must have the new POA decals displayed. Community Patrol and Marine Patrol will be out enforcing these rules. To update registration, visit Member Services at the POA office or call 951-244-6841, ext. 310.

Gas Dock

To make fueling boats more convenient for members, the POA operates a boat fuel dock located at Happy Camp. The dock is open daily May 1 through Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The dock is closed daily from 12 to 12:45 p.m.

Boater Safety Test

A safety inspection must be obtained from Marine Patrol every other year. A safety inspection is required for all vessels that are required to be registered with the State. Prior to obtaining a safety inspection, members must pass a boater’s safety exam. The safety exam can be found on the POA’s website at canyonlakepoa.com.

Swimming Areas

The following parks and beaches have roped off swimming areas: Holiday Harbor Park, Roadrunner Park, Indian Beach, Moonstone Beach, Sunset Beach and Sierra Park.

Pre-printed Guest Passes

Members can request pre-printed guest passes for parties of ten or more people. For pre-printed guest passes, submit first and last names of guests, event date and member’s name, tract/lot and phone number to the POA office at least one week in advance.

Country Club Entertainment

The country club offers live entertainment every Friday at 7 p.m. along with dinner and drink specials.

Free Birthday Dessert

POA members may get a free dessert on their birthday at either the country club or lodge. ID and POA card are required for free dessert.

Summer Pool Hours

Pool summer hours began May 25 and run until Sept. 3. Daily lap swim hours are 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Water aerobics are Monday through Friday at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. There are evening classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 7 p.m. Classes are $2 each or $25 per month for unlimited classes. Signups are taken at the pool office or over the phone at 951-244-6841, ext. 617. Open swim hours are Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Leash Rule

The POA would like to remind members that they must keep their pets restrained on a leash while on common property, or confined by fencing or other secured enclosure within their property. The only common area where pets can be leash-less is at the dog park at East Port Park. For more information, refer to the Rules and Regulations General Rules Section 2.14.

Garage Sale Signs

All signs advertising a garage sale may be placed the morning of the sale and must be removed at the conclusion of the sale.

Website Accounts

The POA encourages members to create an account on the POA’s new website at canyonlakepoa.com. Members can customize their online experience through their own personal dashboard, plus have full access to the website. To create an account, simply visit the website, click the Login button in the top left corner and complete the registration form. Allow POA staff up to three business days to validate the account.

New Marine Patrol Boat

At the May Regular Session Board Meeting, the board approved $44,042 for a new Boston Whaler boat to replace an inoperable Marine Patrol boat.

Gault Field Additions

The board approved $20,120.59 to install more shade structures at Gault Field and $6271.37 for four new bleachers to go under the new shade structures. The bleachers will allow 40 to 50 additional seat spaces at each field. The funding will come out of the Capital Improvement Fund.

Guest Call-in App

The dwellingLIVE app for iOS and Android users allows members to easily manage guest lists and account information from their mobile device. To get this app, search dwellingLIVE in the app store from their phone. Members will need to know their login email and password to sign up.

Commercial Vehicles

Commercial vehicles are required to access the community through the east and north gates only. No commercial vehicles will be allowed access through the main gate.

Member Services Hours

Member Services is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Offices are closed on Sundays.

Art Tiles

The POA invites individuals and clubs to contribute art tiles for the tile walls located at the playground at Sunset Beach and the tennis courts. Those who wish to contribute can paint a tile at The Cup Above in the Towne Center. The cost is $9.68 per tile and includes paint and firing. Tiles must be the six-inch tiles. Once the tile has been painted and fired, deliver it to the POA Operations office on Longhorn Dr. and they will install it on the wall.

Speed Limits

The speed limit on all main streets (Canyon Lake Dr. North and South, Continental Dr., Longhorn Dr., and Vacation Dr.) is 35 MPH; 25 MPH near the gates and on all other streets.

Country Club Buffet

The country club offers a breakfast buffet and Bloody Mary Bar every Sunday. The buffet is $12.50 and served between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Bloody Mary Bar offers endless Bloody Marys for $13.50 between the hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Happy Hour

The lodge offers $5 appetizer and drink specials Monday through Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The country club offers drink specials and $3, $5 and $9 appetizers Monday through Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.

POA Text Alerts

Residents can sign up to receive text alerts from the POA by texting ALLPOA 25827.

Golf Cart Stickers

Residents are required to register their golf carts with the POA but will no longer be charged $45. At the time of registration, a valid Certificate of Liability coverage which identifies the registering member as the policyholder must be submitted.

Annual Budget

The POA’s 2018/2019 Annual Budget is available online. Printed copies are available for distribution at Member Services. The Annual Budget was reviewed and approved by the Board at the March Regular Session Board Meeting and went into effect on May 1. Annual member assessments are $2,832. Assessments are due on May 1 and property owners may pay their assessment in full or pay 12 equal monthly payments in the amount of $236 (plus installment fee).

Boat Towing

All tow boats towing air chairs (hydrofoils), kneeboards, wakeboards or similar devices, other than water skis, must stay within 100 feet of the center buoy lines unless boating safety dictates otherwise. All boats in tow on the main lake must be on plane. The fine for this is $50.

Community Patrol

Community Patrol wants to make residents aware that there has been a reported rise in theft and attempted theft in the community. Residents should contact the police if they see a suspicious person or suspicious activity. Residents may contact Community Patrol after contacting the police and they will response while waiting for the police to arrive. Community Patrol and the police have started sharing “Be on the Lookout” alerts for the gates as well as pictures of subjects.

Residents are reminded to call Community Patrol for POA Rules and Regulations violations and the police for issues pertaining to the law.

Free RFID Stickers

The POA is no longer charging for RFID stickers, which allow residents quicker access to the community at each of the three gates. Members who wish to receive a free RFID sticker must bring their vehicle to the POA office along with a current vehicle registration (must be registered to a community member) and photo identification, such as a POA card or driver’s license. A staff member will install the sticker on the vehicle. Members who do not bring their vehicle to the POA office cannot be issued a sticker. The stickers do not have to be replaced on an annual basis. However, members must provide annual registration to reactivate the sticker/transponder.

Gift Cards

The POA offers gift cards that can be used at the country club, golf course, Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar and for POA merchandise such as license plate frames. The gift cards can not be used for paying citations, registration or POA dues.

Wake Enhancing Devices

No wake enhancing devices of any type are allowed to be used on any boat operating on waters within the CLPOA jurisdiction. This includes any device installed by the boat manufacturer or owners. Any boat that appears to be producing an excessive wake will be investigated. The fine for this is $100.

Radar Units

All Community Patrol vehicles are equipped with dash-mounted radars. They are calibrated before and after shifts. Residents who are pulled over may review the reading on the dash-mounted system if requested.

Court Hours

The pickleball courts are located at East Pork Park and are open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The tennis courts are located at the lodge and are open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Playgrounds

The following parks and beaches have playgrounds: Diamond Point Park, Emerald Park, Holiday Harbor Park, Indian Beach Park, Outrigger Park, Rob Caveney Park, Steelhead Park and Sunset Beach.

Park Reservations

Holiday Harbor pavilion, Roadrunner pavilion, Indian Beach stage and East Port Park Activity Room and kitchen all have reservation options. To make reservations, call 951-244-6841, ext. 60.

Speed Trailer

The speed trailer is programmed to capture the license plates of vehicles speeding within the community. Speeders will be issued citations by mail. The RU2 radar mobile speed trailer will be used to help bring attention to speed control throughout the community and assist Community Patrol with issuing tickets for speeders in multiple locations. Any person who receives additional speeding citations within thirty-six months of a previous offense will be subject to a progressive fine. The progressive fine will be compounded for each additional offense.

Board Meetings

The Canyon Lake Property Owners Association has a five-member Board of Directors who are collectively responsible for the management and operation of the Association’s business affairs. Regular Session Board Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. July and August Regular Session Board Meetings were moved to the first Wednesday of the month. Agendas are posted on the POA website four days in advance of the meeting. Meetings are broadcast live; channel 39 for Verizon Cable subscribers, channel 29 for Spectrum Cable subscribers. Minutes of each meeting are posted within 30 days of each Regular Session Board Meeting and presented to the Board of Directors for approval at the next Regular Session Meeting.

Security Concerns

The POA has a security email address for residents who wish to provide feedback on Community Patrol services. The POA wants to hear from residents, whether it’s a compliment, complaint or a concern about security. The email address, security@canyonlakepoa.com, is a non-emergency, no-reply email address.

Residents are reminded that Community Patrol is to assist residents with non-emergency incidents, such as POA Rules and Regulations violations. Community Patrol can be reached at 951-244-6841, ext. 410. For matters pertaining to the law and duties regularly carried out by peace officers, call the Riverside Sheriff’s Office (RSO) non-emergency number at 951-776-1099. For emergencies, call 911.

Community Patrol can assist with the following non-emergency incidents:

  • Loud noise complaints
  • Barking dogs or loose dogs
  • Speeding and traffic sign violations
  • Vehicle accidents
  • Motorcycle riding in community
  • Golf carts violating Rules and Regulations
  • Vandalism to POA property
  • Illegal fishing

Lighthouse Hours

  • Monday through Thursday: 5 to 9 p.m.
  • Friday: 5 to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday: 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Sunday Dinner: 3 to 8 p.m.

Traffic School

The POA offers traffic school as another method to remove a citation from a member’s account. A member is eligible to attend traffic school for a moving violation once every 36 months, as long as the Prime Member is in good standing with the POA. Traffic school is held on the last Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $25. Upon completion, will be waived from the Prime Member’s account. Registration is required. Payment is due at the time of registration. To register, call Hearing Services at 951-244-6841.

Paying Citations

If you received a violation, payments may be made the following ways:

  1. Mail a check or money order made out to CLPOA to 31512 Railroad Canyon Road Canyon Lake, CA 92587.
  2. Pay in person at the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association building located at 31512 Railroad Canyon Road in Canyon Lake with a check, money order or credit card.
  3. Pay over the phone with a credit or debit card by calling the Member Services Department at 951-244-6841 ext. 310. Have your tract-lot number and citation number (located at the top right-hand corner of the citation) ready.

Dog Friendly Parks

East Port Dog Park, Harrelson Park, Emerald Park and Lions Park are the only parks that allow dogs. All dogs must remain on a leash. Dogs may be leash-less inside the fenced area at East Port Dog Park.

Golf Pro Shop

The Golf Pro Shop at the country club features the latest in golf clubs from Ping, Mizuno, Callaway and Titleist. It also stocks Nike, EP Pro, Antigua and Foot Joy golf apparel. Canyon Lake Property Owner’s Association members receive a 20 percent discount on select apparel.

Fishing Licenses

All California State Fishing Regulations apply when fishing in Canyon Lake. Everyone over the age of 16 must have a California state fishing license. Licenses and permits must be visible at all times; members are required to have their POA ID card in their possession. Guest fishing must either be in the presence of a resident with a POA card or purchase a Guest Fishing Permit. Permits can be purchased at the POA office at a cost of $5 per day or $20 for ten days. Lock Vehicles

Residents are reminded to double-check their vehicle doors and windows each evening and be sure alarm systems are activated. Records show most thefts from vehicles in Canyon Lake occur because doors were left unlocked or windows left open. Residents should not leave items of value in front yards or driveways. Open cars and valuables left outside can lead to “crimes of opportunity” that can be easily prevented. If a crime is in progress, call 9-1-1 before calling Community Patrol at 951-244-6841, ext. 410.

Main Gate Lanes

The main gate decal lane is closed every night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Residents may access the community via the RFID lane or the guest lane during these hours.

Exercise Classes

Take advantage of the many programs and classes offered by the POA. The first class is free. Additional classes can be purchased at the POA or pool offices. Instructors cannot accept payment. To learn more about each class, contact the POA Activities department at 951-244-6841, ext. 618.

  • Yoga by the Lake

Dani Martin invites residents to connect body and mind with Yoga by the Lake. Classes are held Mondays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m. on the sand at Sunset Beach. Classes are $35 for five classes; $60 for 10 classes. Classes take place on the sand; participants should bring a mat, towel or sheet. For more information, contact Dani at 949-294-9904.

  • Morning Yoga

Morning Yoga offers a gentle approach to yoga. Each class focuses on enhancing breathing and inner calm, improving balance, increasing flexibility, mobility and strengthen muscles. Instructor, Gina Kraut, is a licensed massage therapist, reflexologist and Reiki Master. Classes are held on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in the Sunset Beach Room at the lodge.   • Line Dancing

Beginner classes (no experience necessary) are held on Tuesdays from 2 to 5 p.m.; Intermediate classes (advanced experience) are held on Wednesdays from 3 to 5 p.m. Line Dancing classes are held in the Holiday Bay Room.   • Dancercise

Dancercise is a low-impact exercise class that involves stretching exercises starting with the upper body, then floor exercise and line dancing. Free classes are held on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. in the Pool View Room at the lodge.
