Firefighters respond to fire on Old Wrangler Rd.

Riverside County firefighters responded to reports of a residential structure fire on Monday, June 4, at 3:06 a.m. at the 29000 block of Old Wrangler Rd. in Canyon Lake

The first arriving engine company reported fire from the roof of the garage of a two-story single family residence. “The fire was well established in the attic of the home,” said officials.

One firefighter from Station 94 was transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The firefighter sprained his ankle coming down the stairs, according to a CalFire spokesperson and a resident who was on scene and spoke to the injured firefighter. There were no other injuries.

The American Red Cross was requested to assisted two adults displaced due to fire damage.

Thirty-two firefighters, seven engine companies, two truck companies and two overhead personnel responded. Cooperating agencies included the American Medical Response, American Red Cross, CalFire/Riverside, Riverside County Fire Department, Southern California Edison and Southern California Gas Company.

The fire flared up a second time at 3:06 p.m. and was quickly extinguished.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
