Sheriff’s Department provides arrest report

On May 13, Canyon Lake resident Richard Dumas, 24, was arrested for theft of a vehicle, vehicle burglary and for committing a crime while out on bail. He was arrested on Cruise Circle Drive, Canyon Lake, and booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center.

According to the Riverside Sheriff’s Department, on Sunday, May 13, at 4 p.m., residents of Canyon Lake called the Canyon Lake Police Department to report a motorcycle theft and a vehicle burglary.

The Canyon Lake Police Department responded and learned that one of the reporting parties had taken a photograph of the suspect with stolen property in his possession.

The Officer quickly identified the suspect as the subject. Dumas was arrested for theft of a vehicle, vehicle burglary and for committing a crime while out on bail. He was booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center. His bail was set at 75,000.

On May 14, at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers assigned to the Lake Elsinore Police Department were dispatched to Railroad Canyon Rd. and Grape St. to a report of a shooting.

According to the Riverside Sheriff’s Department, the victim, Henry Shannon, 35, left the scene of the shooting in his vehicle. He was involved in a single-vehicle traffic collision near Railroad Canyon Rd. and Church St.

Officers performed life-saving measures and the victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died from injuries sustained from the shooting. The investigation is currently on-going.
