Library programs continue throughout the summer

The Canyon Lake Library will be open Friday and Saturday of the Memorial Day weekend and closed on Memorial Day. The website rivlib.net will be available throughout the weekend for book downloads, database use, item renewal where available and other helpful information.

The BrainFuse online tutoring site will not be available on Monday.

Toddler Story Time, Adult Book Club and tutoring will continue throughout the summer. Toddler Story Time meets on Mondays at 11 a.m. The Adult Book Club meets on the last Monday of the month at 4 p.m.

Both computer assistance and adult tutoring are available by prior arrangement. The Monday 4 p.m. tutoring is flexible and continues to be a service for specific need-to-learn computer techniques and procedures. This service is for those who choose to learn or do something which requires close attention and instruction. A portable drive such as a USB is required for saving work and tutoring users must bring material to communicate their learning needs.

The library has a supply of free voter information guides related to the upcoming primary election on June 5. Additional information may be obtained at sos.ca.gov/elections.

Registration for the library’s Summer Reading Program, “Reading Takes You Everywhere,”  begins on June 4. The program is for all ages. Prizes are earned by time reading. The paper system of logging will be available. An online system is still being developed for those who preferred online logging.

Awards will be made for time read and when that requirement is complete extra reading tickets will be awarded for opportunity drawings in the last few weeks of the program. The final drawings for extra-reading prizes will be held on Friday, July 27.

In addition to the Summer Reading Program, the library will feature Wild West Science Tellers on June 20, Kids Reptile Parties on June 25, Comic Books 101 on July 9,  Halloween in July on July 13, juggler David Cousings on July 19 and John M. Guzman for a program about China with travel tips on July 23.
