Steve Marden

Steve Marden

Former resident of Canyon Lake Steve Marden passed away Apr. 26, 2018, at the age of 72. He died peacefully at home in Bear Creek knowing he was going home to be with the Lord. He was surrounded by his wife Cheryl, mother Sylvia and son Jason. Steve had been dealing with Parkinson’s disease for over five years.

Steve was one of those natural athletes who excelled at many sports. In college, Steve was on the varsity basketball team. After college, he was a high school teacher and varsity baseball coach where he had a breakthrough season in 1991. His team won the championship held at Dodger Stadium.

“I really enjoyed competing against him and his teams,” said former Chatsworth coach Tom Meusborn. “They competed hard. He was a legend in the San Fernando Valley.”

Steve had a passion for golf and was well known in the Men’s Golf Club. “He never let up on me on the golf course,” said his best friend Jerry Swift. “I told him that someday he’d have the worst day of his life and I’d be in a zone and finally beat him. When that day came, it didn’t make my day because I knew it was the Parkinson’s he was fighting.”
