Fiesta Day has new parade route this year

Canyon Lake will celebrate its 45th annual Fiesta Day on Saturday, May 26. This year’s theme “Cheers to 50 Years”  is a celebratory one in honor of the POA’s 50th anniversary of serving the Canyon Lake community.

Due to safety regulations mandated by CALFIRE, the POA had to make changes to the parade route this year.

The new parade route will begin at Mayflower Drive and Canyon Lake Drive North at approximately 9 a.m. The parade will make its way down Canyon Lake Drive North and turn right onto Vacation Drive. The parade announcements will take place at the corner of Vacation Drive and Canyon Lake Drive North as this is the best viewing point of the parade.

From Vacation Drive, the parade will make its way to its new end point at Lighthouse Drive. At Lighthouse Drive, parade participants can either park or pull over to unload passengers or continue down Lighthouse Drive to Canyon Club Drive and on to Canyon Lake Drive North to exit.

Canyon Club Drive and Lighthouse Drive will not be designated as one-way this year, so parade participants unloading passengers will be asked to pull-off to the side of the road and not block traffic.

The parade line up starts at 7 a.m. Parade participants will be assigned to one of four staging areas: Spray Drive, Smugglers Point Drive, Sloop Drive or Clearwater Drive.

Due to safety issues identified by CALFIRE, only emergency vehicles and authorized personnel will be permitted to come into the event area, which begins at Canyon Club Drive and Lighthouse Drive. With this new requirement, golf carts will not be allowed to enter into the event area. Golf carts will be able to park on surrounding streets around the event area and take the complimentary golf cart shuttle into the event.

The designated handicap parking spaces that were formerly set up outside of the lodge will not be available this year; however, there will be 23 designated handicap parking spots available at the Holiday Harbor parking lot along with a wheelchair accessible shuttle bus picking up patrons to shuttle them to the event.

The shuttle will drop off riders at the corner of Canyon Club Drive and Lighthouse Drive.

Fiesta Day has been an annual tradition in Canyon Lake for more than 45 years. The event attracts more than 5,000 spectators.

In addition to the parade, Fiesta Day will feature more than vendors, entertainment, food booths, kids zone, ziplining and ski show.
