Community joins in on Poker Run fun

The Street Carts of Canyon Lake held its community Poker Run fundraiser on Saturday. The run started at Sierra Park and continued to four other checkpoints around Canyon Lake.

Xochilt Lopez won first place with four kings, ace high. Coming in second was Dave Nahay, followed by Laura Funfar in third. All the winners received Visa and BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse gift cards.

Matt Schmidt won the 50/50 drawing. Candy Hudson, Michael Bazaldua, Courtney Finn and Paul Hojilla won “Lake Lyf” merchandise in the opportunity drawing. Ben Bacca won a $25 BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse gift card.

Street Carts President Mike Shroyer would like to thank Todd and Debbie Morrison for helping to organize the event, the poker dealers who volunteer their time, Joe and Sally Pizzo for donating four gift cards, Craig and Tricia Brown for donating Lake Lyf merchandise, Donna Ritchie and The Friday Flyer for the coverage of the event and all those who participated in the Poker Run to help the club raise money for its philanthropy projects. The event raised more than $2,000.

The club plans to host a summer community Poker Run. Details will be posted at a later date.
