Bassmasters announce tournament winners

The Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club held its monthly fishing tournament on Saturday, May 5. The team of Jon Evans and Jack Smith came in first place. The two caught a total of five fish weighing 16 pounds.

Joe Merrill and Danny Batinich took second place with a total fish weight of 15.55 pounds.

Third place went to the team of Dave Brittenham and Rich Tucker with five fish weighing a total of 15.36 pounds.

Big Fish of the Day went to Jack Smith who caught a bass weighing 4.08 pounds.

All fish were released back into the lake.

The Bassmasters Club meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. Tournaments are typically held on the first Saturday of each month. Residents who like to fish and want to improve their skills in a low stress, friendly competitive environment are invited to join.
