The Canyon Lake Farmers Market operates every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the upper section of the Towne Center parking lot.
Chronic Illness Support
The Chronic Illness Adult Support Group meets on the first Monday of every month from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Canyon Lake Senior Center. On May 7, an R.N. who teaches first aid will speak about and demonstrate important first aid measures. For more information, contact Steven Prince at 949-293-2919
The Canyon Lake Community Church’s Caregivers Connection offers an opportunity for caregivers to share common problems, needs and experiences. Anyone caring for a loved one for illnesses such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, heart issues or Parkinson’s is welcome to attend. On May 7, the program will be led by Dr. Cochrane, entitled “Ask the Doctor.” He serves as the medical director for Hospice of the Valleys and brings an incredible wealth of experience and knowledge to this informal question and answer session. Topics of interest include: preventative medicine for seniors, the diagnosis and treatment for common conditions such as depression, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s and other chronic diseases. Dr. Cochrane completed his medical education and residency at the City of Faith Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is board certified in Family Medicine with a certificate of Additional Qualification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the Christian Medical Association. The Lake Elsinore Car Cruises are back. Cool classic cars will cruise into Lake Elsinore’s Historic Main Street on May 5 and June 2 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Restaurants and stores stay open late with many offering Car Cruise specials. The 2018 Pet Walk will be held on Saturday, May 12 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Diamond Stadium Levee, 500 Diamond Dr., Lake Elsinore. The 1.5-mile scenic walk begins promptly at 9 a.m. Registration will be available online and the morning of the event. Pets must be leashed. This event will include pet vendors and raffle. Sale Ranch Sanctuary
Sale Ranch Sanctuary in Temecula is hosting An Evening for the Animals fundraiser to benefit its animals. The fundraiser will be held May 19, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Wiens Family Cellars Winery and includes a silent auction, food and live entertainment. Tickets are $120 per person. Lamb’s Fellowship, 21901 Railroad Canyon Rd., will host its 4th annual Car and Motorcycle Show. on May 19 at 10 a.m. This free event is open to the public and will feature rods, custom and classic cars, motorcycles, live auction, bounce houses, food trucks and live music featuring the British Invaders. Free Sprinkler Nozzles
EVMWD customers are eligible for up to 25 free low flow sprinkler nozzles. Customers must act fast, supplies are limited and the program is coming to an end on June 30. The Toro nozzles are more efficient than regular pop-up spray nozzles and can help customers save both water and money. To participate, print a voucher from the program’s website, freesprinklernozzles.com, and redeem at participating irrigation supply stores.
Celebrate Recovery is a program that teaches and gives one tools on how to address their hurts, habits, and hang-ups so that they can move forward and find their purpose and a life filled with joy. Participants discover that they are not alone in what they are going through and find people to walk alongside them. Celebrate Recovery meets on Sundays at 6 p.m. in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. A potluck is held at 5:30 on the first Sunday of each month. Childcare is provided.
Canyon Lake Bingo
Bingo, sponsored by the Canyon Lake Lioness Club, is held at the senior center on the first and third Sunday of every month from 1 to 4 p.m. Due to State Law, players must be over the age of 18. Admission is $10 for a six-sheet set; special games are available for $1 each. Coffee with Nancy
Residents are invited to meet with Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District Division 1 Director Nancy Horton, a Canyon Lake resident, on the last Tuesday of every month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Sports Stop. Nancy is available to talk about changing guidelines for water conservation, answer questions about conservation rebates and the district’s water rates, etc. Residents are invited to bring their water bill for clarification of costs. Coffee is complimentary.
Helping Hands Group, a local 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is appealing to residents who have fruit trees to donate the fruit to Helping Hands Group who will pick the fruit and deliver it to those in need of food. Canyon Lake women are invited to attend the Canyon Lake Association of Women (CLAWS) group bunco on the second Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. Menifee Historical Museum
The Menifee Valley Historical Museum contains displays about Canyon Lake history, provided by Canyon Lake pioneers Don and Elinor Martin who sometimes serve as docents. The museum, located in the old Menifee Elementary School on Garbani Rd. in Menifee, is open Sundays, from 1 to 4 p.m.
The Lake Elsinore Genealogical Society Business and Program meetings are held monthly on the second Thursday, except July and August, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Mission Trail Community Library, 34303 Mission Trail, Wildomar. Expressive Art Class
Michelle’s Place, a breast cancer resource center serving Canyon Lake and surrounding area, hosts a free Expressive Art Class every other Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. The class uses art as a form of therapy and self-exploration. Sessions help to practice creativity while opening the door to calming strategies and awareness techniques. Participants gain a better insight of themselves through sharing feelings and exploring a host of topics with group dialog and discussion. It’s part art, part relaxing, part “therapy,” part discussion and a positive diversion for anyone. No reservations, fees or art experience required. For dates and times, visit michellesplace.org.
Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) meets on the first and third Tuesdays at 9 a.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church. MOPS seeks to support mothers during the early years of their children’s lives. By connecting with other moms and mentor moms, craft projects and guest speakers, women are encouraged in their physical, emotional and spiritual journeys. Childcare is provided.

Sewing, Quilting Group

Breast Cancer Resources
Bosom Buddies is a breast cancer support group in Canyon Lake led by Janelle Basham and Kimberly Slingerland. The pair mentor, educate and support newly diagnosed breast cancer patients during their journey. For more information, visit clbosombuddies.com.
Michelle’s Place, 27645 Jefferson Ave., Ste. 117, Temecula, is a breast cancer resource center serving Canyon Lake and surrounding area. The center’s mission is to provide emotional and educational support to those touched with breast cancer and facilitate breast health care services. Women’s Circles are small groups of women who meet once a month in each other’s homes or in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. They pray and support missionaries and pray for and encourage one another. Being a member of a Women’s Circle provides an opportunity for small group fellowship. Steering Wheel Covers
The Lioness Club offers custom-made steering wheel covers made of many different materials and patterns, which keep steering wheels from becoming too hot to handle. They also work well during cold weather. The price is $8 for one; $15 for two. The profits from this project go toward the club’s ongoing philanthropic projects.
