Jr. Bassmasters Tournament winners announced

The Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club hosted its annual Junior Bassmasters Tournament on Sunday, Apr. 15. Boats were provided. Young anglers ages 15 and under competed for the chance to move on to the Jr. Angler State Championships on May 27 at Lake Skinner.

The following winning teams will compete in the Jr. Angler State Championships:

1st place: Logan Flynn and Bailey Nichols with 9.67 pounds; big fish 4.97 pounds.

2nd place: Hunter Marin and Cody Jeffrey with 8.76 pounds; big fish 3.23 pounds.

3rd place: Gavin Tatum and Brandon Helbock with 4.97 pounds; big fish 2.82 pounds.

4th place: Jack Hinck and Maverick Grant with 2.14 pounds; big fish 2.14 pounds.

One winning team from the State Championships will receive a trip to the World Championship in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Travel assistance will be provided.

The Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. Monthly tournaments are held on the first Saturday of each month. In addition to hosting the Jr. Bassmasters Tournament, the club sponsors the annual Kids Fishing Derby, an event that draws hundreds of young anglers in the community.
