Tour de Canyon Lake to be held Saturday

Calling all bicycling enthusiasts young and old, fast or slow. The Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club is hosting its 7th annual Tour De Canyon Lake tomorrow, Apr. 14, and inviting all community members to join for a fun, social ride through the community.

The registration table will be located in the lower lodge parking lot near Sunset Beach and will open at 8 a.m. Following a route briefing and group photo, the ride will begin at 9 a.m.

This is a free event. The club is collecting donations of pet food, pet supplies and financial contributions for Animal Friends of the Valleys. The first 50 participants will receive an event T-shirt in exchange for a donation.

The full tour is approximately 15 miles around the community and takes about an hour to complete.

The tour begins at the lodge and will travel to the main gate, turning left on Continental and traveling to the end of the street. From Continental, the group will travel to the east gate then to the campground and back to the lodge.

This is not a race. The Tour De Canyon Lake is an informal ride for all who can ride the distance at any pace. Participants are welcome to ride a shorter route if they wish to modify or have small children.

All traffic laws must be obeyed and helmets are required for children 18 years of age and younger.

The Triathlon and Fitness Club promotes healthy lifestyles through swimming, cycling, running and other cross-training activities. The club hosts the Tour de Canyon Lake and Paddle & Pedal Regatta community events. Annual club dues are $30 for individuals and $40 for families. Membership is not a requirement to participate in fitness events. For more information, visit canyonlaketriathlonclub.com.
