The fifth annual “100 Women Strong” luncheon fundraiser will be held on Sunday, May 6, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the lakefront home of Debra Kipp, 22344 Boating Way, Canyon Lake.

“100 Women Strong” was formed in 2014 by Canyon Lake residents Liz Murphy, Becky Ness and Debra Kipp. Their idea is simple: 100 women would donate $100 to local charities in need. Their mission is to inspire change.

At this year’s luncheon, attendees will hear presentations from four local organizations that directly impact the local community. At the end of the presentations, attendees will have an opportunity to talk with the presenters and learn more about each organization before making a choice of which charity they want to donate their $100 to.

The $100 donation may be given to one organization or be split among two, three or all four of the organizations. “Some women choose to give $25 to each of the four charities, others give their $100 to one charity,” said Liz. “Donations are made directly to the presenting organizations and it’s up to each woman on how they would like to donate their $100.”

The organizations are nominated by members of the group in March. A committee selects four from the list of nominations. The selected organizations are announced at the luncheon.

“100 Women Strong” has raised more than $40,000 over the past four years. The Lions Club Bike Project, Calvary Canyon Hills Food Pantry, The Center 4 Life Change, Helping Hands Group and Hope Learning Academy are some of the organizations that have benefited from the “100 Women Strong” fundraisers.

Lunch tickets are $22 and can be purchased at 100womenstrong.myevent.com. “This event is open to any and all women with a heart to give,” said Liz.
