Choraleers to present Best of Big Band at lodge

The Canyon Lake Choraleers spring concert, “Best of Big Band,” is set for Sunday, May 20, at 3 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge.

General Admission tickets are $15; VIP $20. Tickets can be purchased at the POA office, at brownpapertickets.com and from any Choraleers member.

Director Lorliee Bajema selected well-known songs from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s by composers George Gershwin, Richard Rogers, Glen Miller, Irving Berlin and others.

“Blue Skies,” “Embraceable You,” “Isn’t It Romantic,” “It Had to Be You,” “The Way You Look Tonight,” “Moonlight Serenade,” and “Java Jive” are a few of the nostalgic songs concertgoers will hear.

In addition to Canyon Lake’s resident pianist Lynda Salina, 16 members of the Elsinore High advanced jazz ensemble will accompany the chorus, as well as serenade guests with a few of their own favorites like “Autumn Leaves,” “Misty” and “In the Mood.”

The concert will include a raffle during intermission that will include a cash prize. The no-host bar will feature a special themed drink.

Sponsorship ads in the concert program are still available, some with tickets included. For more information contact Choraleers President Larry Garland at garland.larry@gmail.com.

Under POA rules, tickets alone will no longer be accepted for gate entry. Non-Canyon Lake residents must be on a Canyon Lake resident’s guest call-in list to gain entry into the community.
