Lions seeking members interested in serving

The Canyon Lake Lions Club is seeking men and women who are interested in having fun and fellowship while serving others.

The Lions Club is an all-volunteer service organization dedicated to helping those in need, providing enhancement to the Canyon Lake community and extending assistance to others throughout the country and world as needed.

The club is one of more than 40,000 Lions Clubs with 1,300,000 members in 208 countries. Lions Club is known for its work with people being sight and hearing impaired. In recent years, Lions have also taken on concern and support for childhood pediatric cancer, diabetes and drug and alcohol abuse.

In addition to donating time and energy to meet service needs, the club helps support various causes financially through the funds raised throughout the year. Some of the organizations the club supports include:

  • CA Friends in Sight
  • Canyon Lake Friends of the Library
  • H.O.P.E
  • Kidsight
  • Guide Dogs of the Desert
  • Sight and Hearing Foundation
  • Lions Hearing Foundation
  • American Diabetes Association
  • U.S. Vets
  • Some of the activities the club engages in include:
  • Pancake Breakfast
  • Annual Picnic
  • Lions White Cane
  • Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament
  • Eyes Across California
  • Club Meetings

Lions Clubs were founded in 1917 and are best known for accepting Helen Keller’s challenge to become Knights of the Blind.

Club meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the lodge. For more information about the club and its projects, contact Lion Don Riley at 951-244-9766.
