The Canyon Lake Lions Club is sponsoring its 28th annual Charity Golf Tournament on Thursday, Mar. 29 at the Canyon Lake golf course. Two different games are available.

Players may sign up for a four-person scramble open to all players with or without a handicap. They may pick their own foursome or players will be assigned to a foursome.

The alternate game is a Pro-Am event open to all players with a handicap. Three amateurs will be paired with two pros for a team in a two-best ball format: one best ball from the amateurs and one best ball from the pros.

The entry fee is $60 and includes banquet and awards. Green fee is $29; cart fee is $15. For a $5 donation, anyone landing in the circle in one shot on hole 15 will receive $50 for landing in the smaller circle or $25 for landing in the larger circle.

There will be a Putting Contest for $2 and a Longest Drive Contest between two lines on hole 14 for both men and women. Closest to the Pin awards will be given on hole 8 to women in two shots, hole 17 to men in one shot and hole 11 to pro in one shot. Canyon Golf Carts & Motorsports is sponsoring a Hole-in-One prize for hole 11.

To register, contact Phil Coughlin at 951-805-0223 or Golf Pro Pat Kemball at 951-246-1782, co-chairs for the event. Entry forms are available in the Golf Pro Shop. The deadline to register is today, Mar. 23.

Sponsorships are being sought for tee signs, green signs, Longest Drive Contest and Putting Contest. For sponsorship information, contact Lion Phil Coughlin at 951-805-0223.

This annual event has earned more than $230,000 over the past 27 years for many of the charities and organizations the Lions Club supports, such as Guide Dogs of the Desert, Canine Companions, Friends in Sight, City of Hope, Loma Linda Eye Center, Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House and many organizations around Canyon Lake.
