Batter up! CL Lake Little League games begin

Gault Field was brimming with enthusiasm this past weekend as the eager Canyon Lake Little Leaguers were chomping at the bit to get the season underway.

A freshly lined and manicured field greeted the players as each team lined up in the outfield waiting for their turn to be announced. Ten-year-old Aubrey Cleveland got the festivities underway with an excellent performance of the National Anthem. Following the National Anthem, players from the Major League teams Yankees and Pirates met at the pitching mound and cited the Little League Pledge.

The first pitch was thrown by Devin Wagoner from the Double A Indians team. Jacob Rivera from the Major League team Yankees took care of catching duty for the first pitch. The Opening Ceremony concluded with a lap around the bases as each team was individually announced.

The Lake Elsinore Storm Mascot “Thunder” was in attendance and was even seen playing tag with some of the players.

The day was wrapped up with several games throughout the day. The Triple A matchup saw the Storm defeat White Sox 9-7. In the Double A division, the Angels took the win over Dodgers with a 7-4 victory.

The league consists of a total of 15 teams; four T-Ball teams and three teams in each of the following divisions: Single A, Double A, Triple A and two teams in the Majors.
