POA unveils new website for Fiesta Day

The POA created a new website for Fiesta Day, one of Canyon Lake’s biggest events. All the latest news about Fiesta Day, as well as vendor information and applications, can be found on the new website at canyonlakefiestaday.org.

Fiesta Day takes place annually on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. It’s considered the granddaddy of all Canyon Lake events and attracts more than 5,000 visitors. The annual tradition brings together families, neighbors and friends for an old-fashioned hometown parade through the streets of Canyon Lake, followed by activities at the lodge that include entertainment, vendors, food, contests, a kids zone, and a ski show on the main lake performed by Canyon Lake’s ShowCal Skiers.

The first Fiesta Day took place 45 years ago in 1973. The traditional parade was added two years later in 1975.

The Fiesta Day Committee plays an important role in planning this major event. The committee is made up of community volunteers who, with the help of the POA, plan Fiesta Day. This year’s committee members are:

  • Joe Grasso: chairperson
  • LaRue McNamara: secretary
  • Roanne Grasso: treasurer
  • Mike Shroyer: entertainment coordinator
  • Lyne Hall: parade coordinator
  • Jude Donahue: booth coordinator

There are two committee positions open: traffic/security coordinator and sponsorship and advertising coordinator. Residents interested in filling these positions should contact the POA.

The committee chose Joanna Spiller to serve as this year’s Fiesta Day Grand Marshal. Joanna, an active volunteer in the community, served 15 years on the Fiesta Day Committee before retiring last year.
