Men’s Golf names Washles Sweetheart Couple of the Year

The Men’s Golf Club named Joe and Dorothy Washle Sweetheart Couple of the Year at its Sweetheart Golf Tournament on Feb. 11. Joe and Dorothy were recognized for their 44 years of marriage and 16 years of service to the community.

Joe and Dorothy were married on July 7, 1973. Dorothy immediately acquired a family of four children, one girl and three boys. Quite a change for a young woman who started adult life as a Catholic Nun. Joe, a widower and single parent of four, immediately acquired a life partner and his children, ages 6 to 11, a mother.

With four children, Dorothy and Joe are used to being of service and they continue their service in Canyon Lake in so many ways that positively affect the community.

Joe has been an active volunteer in the community since moving to Canyon Lake in 2002. He is a member of the Travel Club, Men’s Golf Club, Tuesday Work Group, Canyon Lake Association of Men, Fine Arts Guild, Green Committee and POA Finance Committee. “I was taught that one must give back to the community, said Joe. “I’ve tried to live by that principle.”

Dorothy is a member of the Women’s Golf Club, 9ers Golf Club and the Memorial Committee that puts on the Celebration of Life events for the Men’s and Women’s Golf Clubs.
