Chamber of Commerce to host Awards Gala

The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce invites the community to join them as they honor the Community Award honorees and install its 2018 Board of Directors at the 22nd annual Awards Gala and Installation of Officers Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge.

This year’s theme is “Sail into Success.” Tickets are $45 and include the choice of New York steak, chicken marsala, or seared salmon. Reservations are required. To make a reservation, contact Alison Burrafato at 951-844-6124 or canyonlakechamber@outlook.com.

Riverside County 1st District Supervisor Kevin Jeffries will install the chamber’s 2018 Board of Directors: Matthew Svendsen, president; Barry Walker, first vice president; Jim Randle, past president; Jennie Ehrenkranz, treasurer; Debby Gagnon, secretary; Dolores Badillo, director; Mike Irvin, director; Jeanne O’Dell, director; Ria Riley, director.

The chamber will present awards to the following honorees, which were selected by a committee of chamber members from the nominations received by the community:

Citizen of the Year: Ron Martel

The Citizen of the Year is an individual who has enhanced the quality of life in Canyon Lake through outstanding community involvement.

Volunteer of the Year: Steve Libring

The Volunteer of the Year is an individual who has made a significant difference to the community through volunteerism.

Youths of the Year: Jake Hosking and Cooper Smith

The Youth of the Year is a Canyon Lake student who has exhibited academic excellence while being involved in the community and participating in school activities.

Organization of the Year: Woman’s Club

The Organization of the Year is a nonprofit organization or association whose programs of work have made a positive impact on the community.

Business of the Year: Platinum Plumbing

The Business of the Year is a member of the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce who provides exemplary customer service and superior products while supporting the Canyon Lake business community.

The chamber is seeking prizes, such as gift certificates, event tickets and gift baskets, for its opportunity drawing. Donations may be dropped off at the chamber office, 31658 Railroad Canyon Rd., or at Pack, Wrap and Post in the Canyon Lake Towne Center.

Funds raised from the opportunity drawing help promote the chamber’s programs and events throughout the year. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce is an association of businesses and individuals organized to encourage a strong local economy and quality of life by promoting and advancing the community, civic, cultural and educational development of the Canyon Lake area while providing a valuable forum for issues affecting local commerce and the general well-being of the community.
