In Memoriam: LeRoy M. Lilly

LeRoy M. Lilly was born July 14, 1942, to Goldie and Mervyn G. Lilly in Long Beach, California. He served in World War II and the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Cathy, in February 1951 and had four children.

Lee graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and an AA degree in Engineering. He was a civil engineer for the city of Los Angeles prior to joining the Los Angeles Fire Department where he retired after 28 years.

He moved to Canyon Lake with his wife Cathy in June 1981. He became one of the founding members of the Tuesday Work Group for the Canyon Lake Golf Course. He spent the rest of his retirement doing what he loved to best: golfing and traveling with his friends around the country and the world.

Lee passed away on Saturday morning, Jan. 27, after a prolonged illness. He is survived by his twin daughters, Karen and Susan, his son, David, and daughter, JoAnn, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is reunited with his wife of 63 years, playing the best game of his life on the golf course in the sky.

Memorial services will be held Monday, Feb. 26, at 3 p.m. at the Canyon Lake Country Club.
