Residents enjoy Beach Boys tribute concert

Canyon Lakers were treated to a vintage Beach Boys tribute concert at the lodge on Dec. 3. The Lake Fine Arts Guild presented tribute band “Catch a Wave” to celebrate the surf, sun and hot cars of 1960s Southern California. The concert was the last performance in the Fine Arts Guild’s 2017 lineup.

With that distinctive upbeat four-part harmony, the talented musicians thrilled the audience with “Surfin’ USA,” “Little Deuce Coupe” and “Good Vibrations.” They also crooned songs from the Beach Boys best selling Christmas album, such as “Little Saint Nick,” “Blue Christmas,” and “Santa’s Beard.”

Guild member Bob Cratchy said, “Thanks Fine Arts Guild for a fantastic 2017 season. You hire the best tribute bands on the West Coast. We very much look forward to next year’s program.”

“These concerts are very entertaining, nostalgic and not to be missed,” said concert goer Linda Johnson, “The people are friendly and the tribute bands seem to be as good as the originals.”

Tickets are on sale now for the 2018 tribute lineup, which includes Billy Joel on Mar. 3, Bee Gees on May 19, Chicago on Aug. 25 and Rod Stewart on Nov. 3. A free summer concert will be held on July 21 and feature a Jimmy Buffet tribute for a “Margaritaville” evening at Holiday Harbor Park.

Over the last two years, the Fine Arts Guild provided nine tribute bands and sold out each event. Their entire 2018 season is already over 30 percent sold. The Fine Arts Guild encourages early ticket purchases for those who plan to attend the 2018 concerts.

General admission tickets are $25; VIP reserved tickets are $45.
