JWC donates to victims of Las Vegas shooting

The Canyon Lake Jr. Women’s Club (JWC) donated proceeds from its 3rd annual Rocktoberfest to a fund for the victims of the Las Vegas shooting. The club donated $1,100 to the National Compassion Fund, which partners with the Las Vegas Victims Fund and gives 100 percent of its donations to the victims.

The Roctoberfest, held on Oct. 13 at Holiday Harbor Park, featured vendors, beer tasting, live music by Moon Shot and opportunity drawings.

“We would like to give a big thank you to Inland Wharf, Mason Jar, Craft Brewing, Stadium Pizza, Ritual, Aftershock and Hanger 24 for supplying all the great craft beer for the tasting,” said JWC President Alissa Rackstraw. “We encourage everyone to go and check out these breweries as they are all local and helped us out a lot this year. We made five times more money this year than last because more of the breweries contributed and donated so we didn’t have to buy all the beer”

JWC is a non-profit philanthropic club that holds fundraising events throughout the year to help fund scholarship programs, help local families in need and donate to park improvements in Canyon Lake, to name a few. The club holds monthly meetings on the second Wednesday of the month.
