Residents are invited to walk through five decked out for the holiday homes on Sunday, Dec. 3. The Holiday Home Tour, a 44-year tradition sponsored by the Canyon Lake Woman’s Club, is a holiday favorite for hundreds of residents. The self-guided tour provides a close up look at five beautifully decorate Canyon Lake homes.

The tour begins at 9 a.m. at the lodge where guests can pick up tour maps, sample the signature cocktail, enjoy coffee and cookies, shop at the vendor boutique and purchase tickets for an opportunity drawing featuring decorated trees valued at a minimum of $200. Wreaths will also be raffled off.

Those interested in viewing the trees before the tour can do so now at the lodge where all the trees are currently displayed.

Home Tour tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the POA Office, Coldwell Banker in the Towne Center, Pack Wrap & Post in the Towne Center and from any Woman’s Club Board Member. Opportunity drawing tickets for the trees and wreaths are $5 for six tickets. The drawing will be held at 2:30 on the day of the tour. Winners need not be present to win.

The Friday Flyer is showcasing each home in the weeks leading up to the tour. This week’s feature is the lakefront home of John and Sheryl Lewis, 23136 Gray Fox Dr.

The entry to the home is through distressed finish doors produced in the factory of the previous owner. There are amazing pieces, mostly California alder wood, found throughout the home. John and Sheryl were very lucky to have been able to purchase the unique pieces, which were all designed originally for this house.

The floors in the entire home are of honed marble and have a natural sheen to them. The front parlor contains an assortment of chairs, collected by John’s father, along with French doors leading to a private patio and fountain area.

In the living room, guests will find a traditional family Christmas tree next to a fireplace. The couch is cozy, with its down filling and animal print fabric, coordinating with the African accessories on the mantle.

The massive dining room table, again made for the home, invites all to sit and dine. The kitchen has custom New Hampshire walnut cabinets, with beveled glass inserts, variegated gray granite counters and stainless appliances.

The amazing deck and fireplace overlook the yard and infinity swimming pool. The views of the East Bay can be seen from nearly every room in the home.

Photos and artwork from a trip to Africa adorn the hall to the master suite. The large master bath has an unusual, walk-up makeup counter, along with a Jacuzzi tub and stunning alder wood cabinets.

Downstairs is the theater room, Sheryl’s sister’s room and a workout room with pictures of Colorado done by Sheryl’s uncle, famous for his poster art.

A large guest room, with a fireplace and indirect lighting, makes friends never want to leave. Take note of the wonderful armoire and Russian Samovar in the sitting area.

The landing overlooks the downstairs great room. The wall of windows, full bar and kitchen, two-story fireplace and cozy seating area begs for guests to sit awhile.

Sheryl and John have incredible views, along with a home that is contemporary, light and airy. This truly is one of the premier homes in the community.
