Fine Arts Guild installs 2018 Board of Directors

The Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild installed its new Board of Directors for the 2018 concert season. One hundred members attended the Nov. 9 meeting in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge where they were treated to an assortment of appetizers and a variety of wines.

The 2018 Board of Directors are: Ron Martel, President; Dee Zasio, Treasurer; Sue Bonner, Membership Director; Bert Barbay, Operations Manager; Orlando Lopez, Activities Director; Bonnie Dubbs, Social Director; Corrie Tutt, Secretary; and Larry Garland, Publicity. In addition to former President Travis Montgomery, Cathy Barr, who has held several key positions, will also be leaving the board, but intents on supporting the program.

Since 2001, the Fine Arts Guild has presented an expansive array of music to the community, including symphonies, choral gr

oups, jazz combos, rock and roll, swing bands, Broadway show tunes and country music. The audience has been receptive to tribute bands, selling out every 2017 event. Ron said, “People come to our events for music they know and love; it’s simply enjoyable and fun!”

The following 2018 concerts will be held at the lodge on Saturday evenings at 7 p.m.: Billy Joel Tribute Artist Mike Santoro, Mar. 3; Bee Gees Gold, May 19; Kenny Cetera’s Chicago Experience, Aug. 25; and “Gregory Wolfe as Rod Stewart, Nov. 3.

By popular demand, the Fine Arts Guild will host another free summer concert at Holiday Harbor Park. “Margaritaville by the Lake!” is set for July 21. Gary Seiler and the CoastRiders will perform a tribute to “Parrot Heads,” with four-part TropRock (Tropical Rock) harmonies influenced by Jimmy Buffett, the Beach Boys and the Eagles.

Tickets to all 2018 events and the upcoming “Beach Boys” Christmas tribute concert on Dec. 2 at the lodge are on sale now at the POA office, on the Fine Arts Guild’s website at canyonlakeguild.com or by calling 800-838-3006. The POA office sells general admission tickets only or the POA Office (General Admission only).

Tickets remain the same low price for every Guild event.  General admission tickets are $25; $45 for VIP reserved seating. Membership applications and general Guild information are available on the Fine Arts Guild’s website.
