Give the gift of a Thanksgiving meal

Residents are invited to give the gift of a Thanksgiving turkey and holiday meal by donating to the city’s 7th annual Turkey Drive on Nov. 16. Those wishing to donate can drop off frozen turkeys and other food items at city hall, 31513 Railroad Canyon Rd., between 2 to 4 p.m.

The food collected will be donated to Helping Our People in Elsinore (H.O.P.E.). Services provided by H.O.P.E. help to benefit families in Canyon Lake.

Clubs, businesses and residents are encouraged to participate in the program to enable the community’s most vulnerable residents and their families to enjoy the holidays this year.

In addition to frozen turkeys, the following items are needed: whole frozen chicken, stuffing mix, gravy mix, canned mushroom soup, canned green beans, canned yams, hot chocolate and coffee, cake and cookie mix, brown sugar, miniature marshmallows, cornbread mix and other nonperishable items. Last year, 97 frozen turkeys and 26 bags of fixings were donated during the two-hour food drive.
