Gather the kids on saturday for a morning of trick-or-treating and halloween fun in the towne center at the 25th annual parade of frights. The parade of frights, hosted by the canyon lake chamber of commerce, is a free, fright-free family event that you don’t want to miss.

This historic event begins with registration at 9 a.m. in front of city hall where children check-in for the costume contest and pick up their treasure map. An event schedule will be handed out at check-in.

Trick-or-Treating is from 9 to 11:15 a.m. The treasure map will lead trick-or-treaters to more than 30 participating businesses, including The Friday Flyer, that will stamp the treasure map and hand out Halloween treats. Kids will want to visit them all; children completing their treasure map will be entered into a prize drawing. Participating businesses will have an orange pumpkin.

Two treasure map entries will be selected at random. Treasure maps must be stamped by all participating businesses and returned to the chamber’s booth no later than 11:30 a.m. in order to qualify for the drawing. Participants must be present to win.

The treasure map drawing takes place after the costume contest. The first place prize is two Six Flags Magic Mountain one day admission tickets, donated by Western Riverside Council of Governments. The second place prize is four home plate/ dugout seat tickets to a 2018 Storm game, two autographed Play Ball programs, Storm hat, Storm T-shirt and promotional items, donated by Lake Elsinore Storm.

The costume contest parade begins at 11:30. Thunder, Storm Stadium’s mascot, will lead the costume parade in front of city hall again this year. Adults are not eligible for prizes but are encouraged to come in costume and join in on the parade.

Kids of all ages are invited to enter and compete for prizes, which takes place after the parade. Prizes will be awarded for Best Costume in the following age groups: one-year-old and younger, two-years-old to five-years-old, six-years-old to nine-years-old and 10-years-old to 13-years-old.

ABC Bounce will bring additional fun with jumpers and carnival games, DJ Mike Shroyer from Good Time Entertainment will be rockin’ the tunes, and Anton Riniti will make an appearance with his 33-in-1 Bean Bagglz Game.

The Parade of Frights is sponsored by Advantage Flooring, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services California Properties, Canyon Lake Car Club, Canyon Mattress and More, CR&R, Platinum Plumbing, Lake Elsinore Casino, Lake Elsinore Storm, Southern California Edison and Western Riverside Council of Governments.
