Quilters to hold free raffle for CL veterans

Members of the Canyon Lake Quilters create Quilts of Valor quilts and present them to veterans throughout the year. As in past years, the group will hold a free drawing for a Quilts of Valor quilt during Canyon Lake’s annual Veterans Day Celebration on Nov. 11. The drawing is for veterans only.

The Quilt of Valor Foundation is a national program established to honor veterans of all services. Its goal is to cover all physically or psychologically wounded service members with a freedom quilt, honoring them for their sacrifices. The movement began in 2003 and has now spread across the United States.

The Canyon Lake Quilters have been presenting Quilts of Valor quilts for approximately 10 years. “The ladies are proud of the service all veterans have given to our country. It is a small thing that we can do to show our appreciation,” said quilter Kathy Barbay.

The group of women work together on quilting projects periodically on Wednesdays at the senior center. For more information or to join the group, contact Kathy Barbay at 951-805-3278.
