Letter: Car Show

Editor, The Friday Flyer

On behalf of the 2017 Canyon Lake Car Show Committee, I want to thank everyone who participated in our 12th annual Classic Car Show this past weekend. This list includes too many to list by name, but first and foremost they are the Car Show Committee members who have been working on this event since June and their committees made up of club volunteers, spouses and friends. Thank you to the City of Canyon Lake, POA, specifically Activities, lodge and Operations, without which we couldn’t pull it off each year.

POA staff attended many of our planning meetings after hours and without them, the event wouldn’t have been the success it was. Operations were diligent in assisting with set-up and take-down at the end of the day and are also much appreciated.

There were nearly 275 cars on display from as far away as Nevada and Arizona, a complimentary performance by ShowCal Skiers, 28 vendor booths and an additional 22 sponsors that supported this event. There was an assortment of foods from street tacos and ice cream to special drinks and an expanded Car Show menu at the lodge.

We appreciate all the really cool cars that participated this year. Twenty-two trophies were given to participants selected by their peers, with five more selected by industry professionals in paint, interiors and motors, as well as city an POA dignitaries.

Our thanks also go to The Friday Flyer and staff for their great support, photos, articles and overall promotion of this fun community event, and the residents and community of Canyon Lake for coming out and enthusiastically supporting us.

We’re already working on making the show next year even bigger and better. Mark your calendars for the 2018 Canyon Lake Classic Car Show on Oct. 6.

2017 Car Show Chairman
