Only one more week until “Smooth Sounds of Santana” rocks the stage at the Canyon Lake Lodge. The number one “Santana” tribute band in the nation will feature striking renditions of classics, such as “Evil Ways,” “Black Magic Woman” and “Oye Como Va.” The band will be performing tunes from all eras of Santana’s storied career; from the group’s early Woodstock days almost 50 years ago, to Santana’s more recent smash hits like “Smooth,”

“Santana” pioneered a highly original fusion of rock, salsa, jazz and blues, selling over 100 million records. The band’s distinctive sound features melodic, blues-based guitar lines backed by congas and timbales not generally heard in rock music.

The talented musicians of “Smooth Sounds” will capture the multicultural tone and spirit that have made Santana a rock radio mainstay for decades. Guild President Travis Montgomery said, “The audience will hear all of Santana’s greatest hits for the pleasure of the casual fan as well as die-hard aficionados.”

Rolling Stone magazine listed Carlos Santana as one greatest guitarists of all time. He has won 10 Grammy’s and three Latin Grammy awards. Gary Albano founded “Smooth Sounds” with a simple stated mission, “To faithfully recreate the music of one of the greatest guitar players ever, Carlos Santana.”

From the tone of that iconic guitar to the sound of the keyboard and Latin percussion, these seven gifted musicians that make up “Smooth Sounds” say they give it all up on stage. “It will be like the legendary Carlos Santana is actually here at the lake. Every song in the set will be familiar and probably played a special role in your life,” said Guild Program Director Ron Martel.

The Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild offers tickets at the same price to all of its events at the lodge. General Admission tickets are just $25; VIP tickets with reserved seating are $45. This event is already 80 percent sold, but there are good seats still available.
